Mystic Mountain is about 3.5 kilometres from Bright in Victoria and an amazing facility for paragliding and/or mountain bike riding.
We drove to the top of the mountain to watch some of the paragliders enjoying the great air currents in this beautiful area of the state. Apparently Mystic Mountain has a very good thermal updraft and you can just jump off the top to begin your paragliding adventure (when conditions are perfect). Of course they have tandem rides for beginners and these can be booked through several outlets in Bright. It is a very steep drive along a dirt road to the top of the mountain which can be a bit scary at times (don't look over the side). Once at the top you will enjoy great views over the valley.
As you drive up Mystic Mountain you will notice a large number of mountain bike tracks threading their way through the forest. These are also very popular with cars parked at various spots along the road for people to set off on some great rides. They even have two double black diamond runs for the very experienced mountain biker. You can purchase a map of the mountain trails from the local bike shop - funds from the sale of maps is invested in maintaining the tracks.
I know some friends who can't wait to visit this area.
