The Longreach City Walk is a Linear Botanic Garden Trail that runs from the Stockman Hall of Fame to Galah Street, Longreach - alongside the Landsborough Highway. It is about five kilometre return through a collection of local fauna - Cassia, Acacia, Saltbush, Eucalyptus, Gidgee etc. We walked along this trail several times from the Longreach Tourist Park to the centre of town and found if very relaxing - an easy flat walk.
The plants are labelled along the way and there are plenty of places to stop for a rest with seats provided in order to sit and enjoy the surroundings. There are also a number of children's playgrounds dotted along the path if you have young ones.
It is usually quite warm in Longreach and the trees and bushes planted along the Linear Trail provide lots of shade. We recommended this walk to several people at the caravan park.
