Longreach is a town in Central West Queensland, Australia approximately 700 kilometres (430 mi) from the coast, west of Rockhampton. The town is named after the "long reach" of the Thomson River on which it is situated. The town was gazetted in 1887, and the railway reached the town in 1892, causing the population to grow. It is the administrative centre of the Longreach Regional Council, which was established in 2008 as a merger of the former Longreach, Ilfracombe, and Isisford shires.© Wikipedia

Longreach is a lovely country town between Barcaldine and Winton on the Landsborough Highway in Queensland. We stopped with the intention of staying one night and ended up staying for four. Here are some of the things we did while in Longreach:
We missed the Cobb & Co. Coach Tour, the paddle-boat tour, Powerhouse museum and other attractions in Longreach - had to leave something for our next visit. RvTrips have been recommending Longreach to all travellers we meet heading to outback, Queensland. The streets are wide which makes it easy to park and turn while towing the van and the local people are friendly. We think this is a great place to stay for a few days.
