We stayed at the Longreach Tourist Park when visiting Longreach in Queensland. This is huge park with various forms of accommodation - luxury two bedroom villas, cabins, ensuite caravan sites, powered and un-powered sites, camping, as well as large drive-through spaces for big rigs. There are three amenities blocks throughout the park - the one we used was very clean and no key was required to access the facilities. They provide a large camp kitchen for guests, barbeques, pool, spa and a great dump point housed in its own shed (see photo).
The sites are gravel and mostly flat - we had no trouble finding a site and setting up - our visit to the Longreach Tourist Park was outside peak season. We met lots of lovely people while staying at this park and I find it hard to imagine how many people would actually be here when the accommodation and/or sites are full. You can walk to the QANTAS Founders Museum, Stockman's Hall of Fame and the centre of town from Longreach Tourist Park. It is a great experience to walk or ride along the Linear Botanic Garden Trail (we called it the Longreach City Walk in this website).
The Woolshed Restaurant is located alongside the Longreach Tourist Park and we were lucky enough to listen to an Elvis Impersonator while staying here - imagine sitting under the stars, sipping red and listening to Elvis sing "Achy Breaky Heart" - I had to ring my sisters and tell them.
