The Mill - Castlemaine

The Mill Castlemaine was once a Woolen Mill and is transforming into a great meeting place for food, beer, coffee, and a range of second hand items.   

We were staying at the BIG4 Castlemaine Gardens Holiday Park and were advised to head across the road and explore this artisan precinct, enjoy a coffee or freshly brewed beer. Some of the interesting outlets include:

• Das Kaffeehaus and Coffee Basics.  Open seven days with amazing coffee and great atmosphere
• Boomtown Wine co-operative Cellar door - Sat and Sun 11 am-5 pm, Friday nights from 5 pm with live music  
• Ice Cream Social - Wed – Sun 12 – 5 pm
• Castlemaine Brewing Company - great tasting paddles and pizzas available a couple of nights a week. 
• Harvest Fruit and Veg - Thursdays 12-6 pm, Fridays 8 am – 6 pm - lovely organic fresh produce at reasonable prices
• Castlemaine Vintage Bazaar and Platform No. 5, stallholders have market-style spaces to sell vintage, re-purposed, hand-made and 2nd hand goods. This is a very interesting place to visit with a huge range. Each item appears to be numbered and you take it to the front counter to make your purchase.
• furniture makers, and metal craftsmen.

The Mill also has public toilets and plenty of parking space for visitors. The Botannical Gardens are just across the road so  you could spend the whole day in this part of Castlemaine.
