The Castlemaine Brewing Company was conveniently located across the road from our accommodation at the BIG4 Castlemaine Gardens Holiday Park. It can be found at the front of The Mill - a restored Woolen Mill housing a range of outlets. They have a locally crafted beer, cider and wine plus they also make pizzas on Friday (from 5 pm - 9 pm) and Saturday/Sunday from 12:30 pm to 8:30 pm. These look great.
The Tap Room is a cosy spot to sit and enjoy one of the great varieties on Tap. We decided on a tasting paddle each - $10 for a choice of 4 of their beers or locally sourced cider and/or ginger beer. We thought this was great value and made sure we each had something different.
I tried – Blue Elephant Custodian Cider (very dry), Ginger Kidd Ginger Beer from Harcourt (very yummy but 8% alcohol), Frailty Pale ale (delicious) and Shedshaker Pacific Ale (easy drinking).
My workmate tried – Golden Ale (YUM), Celtic Red Ale (OK), Pilsner Lager (a little wheaty for our taste) and The Night Porter (a dark Beer with a coffee flavour).
Of course this is our opinion and I suggest you call in to this lovely friendly place and try for yourself.
