The Visitor Information Centre is housed in the old Market Building which was built about 1862 and located on Mostyn Street in the middle of this beautiful little town in the Goldfields Region of Victoria. We always like to stop at the VIC when we visit a new town and you will find plenty of parking behind the Castlemaine Visitor Information Centre.
It not only has information on attractions, accommodation, tours and services it also sells a range of products form the local area. The VIC is open every day except Christmas Day and this historic building also has regular art exhibitions throughout the year. You can hire bikes from this centre and take a leisurely ride around the historic buildings Alongside the VIC is what appears to be another old building but in fact houses a small shopping centre with an IGA supermarket, bakery and takeaway grog shops. Lovely that they kept the original façade.
