While walking around the main streets of Castlemaine looking at some of the historical buildings we noticed people enjoying fish and chips on a park bench and thought - "what a great idea for lunch".
We decided to order from the Blue Sea Fish Shop on Mostyn Street - just across the road form the IGA supermarket, and not far form the Castlemaine Visitor Information Centre (in the old Market Building). This turned out to be a great choice with our delicious crumbed Blue Grenadier fillets grilled on the hot plate - tender and non-greasy. The small chips were enormous and potato cake homemade - lovely.
Blue Sea Fish Shop is open every day except Tuesday when they say they have - gone fishin’.
The outside of the shop does not look great but the food was terrific and we would not hesitate to return for another takeaway meal.
