Point Moore is a prominent headland in Geraldton about 3 kilometres from the city centre in the suburb of West End. This area is well known for the red and white strips of the Point Moore Lighthouse which was built in 1878. This lighthouse is about 34 metres high and the colours make it stand out on the headland- an icon of Geraldton. The Lighthouse longer open to the public but there are a number of plaques around the base telling visitors about the history of this tall steel structure. Interestingly there is miniature copy of the lighthouse situated in the surrounding park - Bob Davies Park.
You will find great views of the ocean from Point Moore and it no surprise that the Geraldton Volunteer Marine Rescue has it's base located in this area. The park has picnic tables and plenty of parking for easy access to the beach. I understand that this is a very popular windsurfing and kite surfing spot when the winds are blowing in the right direction. They were howling during our visit and we saw some wonderful air acrobatics from a couple of kite surfers in the waters nearby.
Pulblic toilets are nearby and this lovely park was within easy walking distance to our accommodation at Belair Gardens Caravan Park.
