The South Australian Whale Centre is located within walking distance to the Victor Harbor Visitor Information Centre and has three floors of interactive and educational exhibits on whales found in the southern ocean. There is a interesting 3D video screening in a small theatrette throughout the day on the southern right whales - very interesting. This centre provides whale sighting information and the best spots to visit in order to view these magnificent creatures as they pass Victor Harbor between June and October.
The Whale Centre is open from 10:30 am - 5:00 pm daily (closed Christmas Day). We were able to purchase a combined ticket to the Whale Centre and a return trip on the horse drawn tram to Granite Island. There is a very good area within the Centre for children.
