The Moss Gardens is one of the truly beautiful spots to visit when walking through Carnarvon Gorge in Carnarvon National Park, Queensland. The main walking track leads through the gorge with side tracks to points of interest. A toilet block sits alongside the track just past the turn off to Moss garden.
Moss Gardens have been created by water dripping continuously from the sandstone cliffs - believed to be coming through the rock for several thousand years. Very peaceful and a bit cooler than surrounding area. A raised viewing platform has been built to allow visitors to sit and enjoy the vegetation - again keep an eye out for orchids growing on the sides of these steep rock faces.
To reach the Moss Gardens there are lots of steps and sloped walking tracks to climb into the area - a number of seats provided along the way to rest before continuing.
This was my favourite spot in Carnarvon Gorge and I am pleased we left it until last.
