Carnarvon Gorge - Art Gallery - Rolleston

The Art Gallery within Carvarvon Gorge is a must see when you decide to take the walking trail through this lovely area of Queensland - about 10.8 kilometres return walk from the Carnarvon Gorge Visitor Centre. They say it should take 3–4 hours and is a Class 3 track - I guess this is true if you don't detour to other sites along the way.

The Art Gallery has over two thousand engravings, ochre stencils and freehand paintings along about 70 metres of sandstone wall. This is a significant Aboriginal site and tells the story of aboriginals in the area for thousands of years. You can see the outline of a number of different sized hand prints sprayed onto the rock.  

Apparently the Art Gallery in Carnarvon Gorge contains one of the best examples of stencil art in Australia. Highly recommended by RvTRips.
