Mossman Gorge is located in the southern part of Daintree National Park, 80 kilometres (50 mi) north of the regional town of Cairns and about five kilometres from the cane-farming town of Mossman. It is part of the traditional homeland of the indigenous Kuku Yalanji people. A suspension bridge runs across Rex Creek close to where it enters the Mossman River, linking the carpark area to a 2.4-kilometre rainforest loop track walk.© Wikipedia

I would highly recommend a trip to Mossman Gorge Centre. while enjoying a holiday at Port Douglas in far north Queensland. This is a very well organised tourist destination with a large visitor car parking area which also caters for buses, motor homes and caravans.
The Centre itself consists of Mayi Café (great coffee), Shop (with a huge range of gifts and Aboriginal artworks), art gallery and ticket sales (for shuttle or tours), as well as a National Parks Office. A shuttle bus operates from the centre to the gorge and tickets were $9.10 per adult for a return trip (this return ticket allows multiple trips on the day of purchase).
The bus departs every 15 minutes and ours was operated by a lovely indigenous man who was happy to talk about the area and even went out of his way to try and show us a lizard in one of the nearby trees.
A short walk along the boardwalk to a swimming hole which was very popular with the children. The boardwalk is wheelchair friendly but there are several steps leading to the swimming hole. A walking trail from the boardwalk leads to Rex Creek Suspension Bridge which you will need to cross to access the Rainforest Circuit Track.
This track is clearly marked through the rainforest and well worth the walk – a beautiful part of the country and cool on a hot day. We saw a black water snake and a Ulysses butterfly (bright blue) fluttering around near the water).
There are several guided walks through the rainforest gorge conducted by local indigenous guides who will tell visitors about the significance of this area and show them how to find 'bush tucker'.
We thoroughly enjoyed our day at Mossman Gorge.
