Stuarts Well Roadhouse & Caravan Park

Stuarts Well Roadhouse is located on the Stuart Highway in the Northern Territory about 90 kilometres south of Alice Springs. We called in for a look around and a cold drink. The young man behind the counter was great – happy, friendly and chatty. We asked about coffee and he happily told us that an Italian Man had just given him a good score out of 10 for an Espresso, so we ordered a cup. The coffee was very good and the service was excellent - he even offered to transfer our cuppa to a mug from the takeaway cup when we decided to look around.

There is a lovely country style dining room attached to the shop which leads into a funky bar area full of an interesting collection of sayings, photos and a huge SMURF collection displayed in a glass case - very unexpected.  They even have a pet snake in a class cabinet in the corner. Some of the stools are made of star pickets with slatted wooden tops. Just outside is a pool area and caravan parking bays (they also have some small cabins as well as backpacker rooms).  Lots of trees and drive through sites. The toilets and showers for the caravan park are the same as the ones for the roadhouse - basic but clean. They make all sorts of burgers (homemade) but unfortunately it was too early for lunch – crocodile, goat, camel etc. The gift shop had a great selection of Aboriginal art at reasonable prices. We would happily stay at Stuart Wells and I would highly recommend that you stop in to look around and enjoy the service when travelling to or from Alice Springs.
