Alice Springs Reptile Centre in the Northern Territory is a very interesting place to visit when travelling through central Australia. We timed our arrival at the Centre to catch the 1 pm reptile talk - these talks are held three times a day.
The talk is based on snakes and lizards of the area with an opportunity to hold or stroke a couple of creatures – blue tongue lizard, frill neck lizard and a python. I was not too keen on this but a number of overseas visitors wanted to take a photo home holding a snake. We were also shown how to apply a compression bandage to a snake bite - a great reminder of what to do if this situation every arose.
They have very good display with a large number of creatures including saltwater crocodile and freshwater crocodile plus the huge Perentie Goannas. Gecko cave is very interesting in order to see a number of these creatures up close - each enclosure is a mini habitat.
