BIG4 MacDonnell Range Holiday Park - Alice Springs

BIG4 MacDonnell Range Holiday Park is located on Palm Place, Alice Springs. It is at the foot of the West MacDonnell Ranges, and a short easy drive to the centre of town. This is definitely the nicest looking caravan park that we saw in Alice Springs and were very pleased we chose to stay at this location. In fact it was so welcoming and comfortable that we extended our stay. This BIG4 park is huge, very well maintained with beautiful gardens, grassed areas and lots of shade. 

The pool area is definitely worth a mention with four pools to choose from including a lap pool and water slide. Around the seating areas beside the pool is artificial grass which is very soft underfoot and there are NO bindies.

Each Sunday the MacDonnell Range Caravan Park provides a free pancake breakfast for all guests with tea and coffee, plus a range of toppings. The flat barbeque arrives on the back of a custom built trailer and quickly cooks up a great supply of delicious pancakes - each almost the size of a dinner plate. This is a great way to meet other people staying at the park and to interact with the staff.  

The features of this park are extensive and I will try to mention most of them:

• range of cabins – each with carports for shade and lovely gardens. Barbeques provided among the cabins for guests
• at least 4 amenities blocks which are very clean with plenty of space  
• family bathrooms with toilet, bathtub and hand basin
• laundry facilities – plenty of clothes lines outside each laundry for convenience
• large number of ensuite sites. Wide and grassed with lots of shade
• two jumping pillows for children of all ages with height restriction on smaller pillow
• games room and separate TV room
• two large children’s playgrounds
• hire pedal bikes
• large shaded powered caravan and camping sites with grass and/or cement slab Unpowered sites with plenty of grass
• separate area for bus groups with parking, grass for camping or bunk rooms nearby – each section has its own hot water system and shaded area for food preparation
• large camp kitchen with great facilities and lots of shaded seating. Toasters, electric kettles, barbeques, large fridge and freezer - a hot water system beneath each sink
• shop beside reception - grocery items, souvenirs as well as beer and wine 
• boom gate for security
• dump point which is a toilet located outside one of the amenities buildings

A staff member met us at our site on arrival to help with parking (if required), and to make sure we were happy with our location. We also noticed that a staff member would quickly come around to check sites after a departure and mow or water the grass if necessary.
