Road - Thunder Bay to Edel NP entrance - Edel Land NP

Edel Land National Park (proposed) is within Shark Bay and contains Steep Point - the westerly most point of the Australian Mainland. Thunder Bay and the Thunder Bay Blowholes are on the western side of Edel Land, along a very sandy 4WD track about 8 kilometres from the main road to Steep Point.

The track is only single width so you always need to be on the lookout for oncoming traffic as there are very few spots to pull off the road - very hilly and some of the summits are quite blind. For us this was one of the scariest pieces of road within the Park as the sand hills were steep and soft - no problem for the Land Rover. Travelling along these sandy and corrugated roads is very slow so you will need to allow plenty of time if you wish to see Steep Point and Thunder Bay.
