Thunder Bay is on the western side of the Edel Land National Park (proposed) and access is by 4WD only. We decided to drive to Thunder Bay on our return journey from Steep Point. The Ranger had told us that the 4WD track that follows the Zuytdorp cliffs to Thunder Bay and the Blowholes was in very poor condition and to head back past the Ranger Station if we wanted to travel to this area. Maps of the area are available from the Shark Bay Discovery Centre in Denham and I would advise you to obtain one before driving into Edel Land.
The track to Thunder Bay and the Thunder Blowholes was one of the most difficult roads we had encountered with large, steep sand hills, but the Land Rover handled them easily with the tyre pressure set to 20 psi. It is extremely windy on this side of the peninsula and I was not game to get too close to the edge. You can see for miles and the Zuytdorp cliffs are quite spectacular - well worth the effort.
