Inneston is an Historic Township within Innes National Park on the Yorke Peninsula in South Australia. This township developed during the days when gypsum was mined in the area and now provides holiday accommodation in some of the renovated cottages and manager's residence. This is just a short drive to the township of Marion Bay.
These restored and renovated buildings are dotted among the mallee and stone ruins of the historic township and cater for various numbers - ranging from the Engineers and Managers Lodges that sleep up to 10 people and the Post Office which is perfect for couples. Some of the accommodation options require you to provide your own linen so it is best to check before arriving. This accommodation must be booked and paid for on the national parks website - parks.sa.gov.au/innes.
Several of the self-contained miners’ lodges have been restored back to their original charm - what an interesting way to spend a quiet night in the middle of the bush.
