The Inneston Heritage walk is one of the trails available within Innes National Park on the Yorke Peninsula in South Australia. The car parking area to begin this interesting walk around the Historic Township of Inneston is about 12 kilometres from the community of Marion Bay and just past the entrance to the National Park (entry fees apply and these can be paid online).
This walk is accessible to people of all ages and fitness levels, with a well-defined path and plenty of interpretive signs along the way. Inneston was developed during the days when gypsum was mined in the area. Signs along the track display information on mining and how the gypsum was transferred to Stenhouse jetty for transporting overseas – first by horse along wooden tracks and then by tractor along steel rails. Some of the old cottages and Managers residences have been renovated and will sleep up to 10 people.
A very interesting stop during our day exploring the national park.
