Stenhouse Bay Campground is within Innes National Park on the Yorke Peninsula in South Australia. This is the closest campground to the park entrance as you drive from the small settlement of Marion Bay along the Yorke Highway. Stenhouse Bay Campground has quite large sites in a bush setting offering privacy from neighboring campers. There are drop toilets provided which are clean and do not smell - you will need to carry your own water for drinking and showering. During our visit the fee for a campsite was $11 per night and needs to be booked online – this can be done at the entrance to the park on the computer provided (parks.sa.gov.au/innes). The sites are suitable for caravans and campers as well at tents.
Little Emu Beach is northeast of Stenhouse Bay near the campground - a lovely little beach with beautiful clear water. The Stenhouse Bay Jetty and lookout are all within walking distance with several vantage points offering magnificent views of the ocean. Stenhouse Bay campground is a great place to base yourself to explore Innes National Park and the Inneston Historic Township which was created when gypsum mining was carried out in the area. (Fees apply for entry to National Parks and can be purchased online from parks.sa.gov.au, or some Visitor Information Centres).
