Casuarina Campground is located within the Innes National Park on the Yorke Peninsula in South Australia. This is one of several camping grounds located within the National Park and can be booked online at parks.sa.gov.au/innes - fees apply for entry to the National Park and camping.
This tranquil campground offers seven campsites with access to Pondalowie Bay and surf break via a walking trail through the coastal dunes - pit toilet facilities are available. The sites vary in size and the toilet block seems to be quite new with a water tank. This campground is surrounded by dense low shrub with a variety of native birds and animals living in the area (emus, wallabies, sea eagles, mallee fowl etc).
Pondalowie Surf Break is very close to the Casuarine Campground and has a very large car parking area which indicated to us that this is a popular spot during summer, or when surfing conditions were good. A major surfing competition - The Yorke Classic - is held in Innes National Park each October long weekend. There is a great boardwalk over the sand dunes to the water, and the beach is accessed from a long viewing platform. This is a beautiful spot with a long white beach stretching in either direction - steps lead down from the viewing platform to the sand.
This area is a paradise for surfers, anglers and campers - Innes National Park has plenty to see and do and is a favourite destination for a seaside holiday.
