The Charters Towers Visitor Information Centre is located at 74 Mosman Street, which is at the top of Gill Street, facing the T-intersection. The centre occupies a beautifully restored heritage building - we found it a little difficult to find as the building is set back from the road (look out for the yellow flags).
The Orientation Room (adjoining the Centre) shows films on gold discovery in the area and allows you to take a virtual tour of the City. The local volunteers at the centre have a wonderful knowledge of Charters Towers and the surrounding area - of course they will make bookings for you. They also conduct walking tours of Charters Towers explaining the stories behind many of the historical building around town. We found the staff friendly and helpful and happy to chat.
