We ate at the Commercial Hotel during our stay in Barcaldine. The Commercial is one of five pubs on the main street - apparently there is a local challenge to have a drink at each one. We were able to order our meal at the bar while enjoying a pre-dinner drink and the waitress then informed us when it was ready to be served in the Dining Room. The bottle of wine we ordered was sitting on the table waiting for us - can't ask for better service than that.
The meal was delicious and of course we had to try some homemade desert. We were very happy to write a comment in the visitors book as we really enjoyed our meal in this wonderful country pub.
