Barcaldine - Showground

Barcaldine is a lovely little town in outback Queensland about 310 kilometres west of Emerald.  This town has a very interesting history and has plenty to offer visitors.  During our last trip we called in to look at the Showground as an option for caravan and camping in the area.

This was a lovely looking location with lots of grass, plenty of shade and large sites around the central arena - power outlets and water taps nearby. Amenities blocks are relatively new and are scattered around the area - so each site is never too far from a toilet or shower. Lovely, neat and tidy, well maintained area. The fee for staying at Barcaldine was $26 per night in September 2016 which is on par with other caravan parks in the town.  

We would not hesitate to stay here - walking distance to local pubs, restaurants, cafes and the Visitor Information Centre.
