Mushroom Rock can be seen from a viewing area south of Kalbarri - follow the George Grey Road (Port Gregory-Kalbarri Road)- for about six kilometres and follow the signs into car park. Wind and wave erosion have exposed and weathered the layered sandstone in cliffs that rise many metres above the ocean - Mushroom Rock is one such formation.
The car park is located next to the clearly visible walking trail leading to the viewing areas. A three kilometre return walking circuit connects Mushroom Rock and Rainbow Valley further along the coast and there a number of signs along the way describing the botanical and geological features of this beautiful area. Mushroom Rock is located within Kalbarri Park and I would recommend taking the time to see as much as possible along this beautiful part of the West Australian Coast. If you are lucky enough to visit at the right time of year you will also be treated to huge displays of wildflowers.
