BIG4 Mackay Marine Tourist Park - Cabins

BIG4 Marine Tourist Park can be found on Harbour Road about 10 kilometres from the Mackay Visitor Information Centre and close to the Mackay Harbour. We were lucky enough to be given access to two cabins in this large park with some great facilities for children - water spash park, slide pool, wading pool, jumping pillow, tyre maze and mini golf just to mention a few.

• Cabin 2 – Marlin Villa. This cabin is closest to the reception area and was being converted to an easy access cabin for those travelling with disabilities. The stairs will be changed into a ramp leading from the car parking area at the front of the cabin. The bathroom is suitable for those with disabilities with a curtain and no shower door – large room, big enough for a wheelchair. All light switches are at a convenient height. This cabin has a kitchenette with cook top, microwave, fridge etc.  One bedroom, with a single bed and trundle in the living area.
• Cabin 147 – Barramundi. This cabin is alongside the pool area and has two bedrooms with 2 x double bunks in one bedroom and a queen bed in the master.  Nice new kitchen with plenty of natural light flowing in through ample windows. A large verandah with a slatted wall to help shade from the afternoon sun sits at the front of the cabin with a great outlook over the jumping pillow and pool. The car parking space sits between the cabins with a sealed path leading to the front steps.

The park is very large and is located close to a wetland area with lots of birdlife, and I understand that Barramundi have been caught from these waters. There are a range of cabins and villas but unfortunately the plainest looking ones sit along the access road to the park. There are a couple of amenities blocks in various locations around the park and one large old block has been closed. The BIG4 has a camp kitchen, fire pit and dump point – pets are welcome on application.
