Great Northern Sports Club - Mackay

The Great Northern Sport Club is located at the Mackay Marina with great views over the boat harbour and out to sea. We headed to the Marina for a look around and then decided to head into the club (out of the strong wind) for lunch overlooking the water.

We had a lovely meal – salt and pepper calamari, bruchetta, peri peri chicken burger with a cold Beer and cider. Lovely service, friendly staff and easy parking out the back of the club - what else can you ask for when on holidays. The Club uses a selection of local produce in the meals and I thought these were reasonably priced arriving at the table quickly. Apparently the menu changes regularly and there are daily specials.

I understand the club is closed Monday and Tuesday but they have all day dining from 12 noon on weekends – this suits us as we often arrive late for lunch (after 2 pm) and get disappointed when the kitchen is closed.

You can even drive out onto the break wall for a great views out to sea and back towards Mackay.
