Climbing Uluru is one of the activities that attracts visitors to this great rock in the red centre of Australia. You are asked by the traditional owners of the land NOT to climb Uluru as it is an important part of their cultural history.
The Climb is closed during adverse weather conditions and there are gates at the base which are locked when too dangerous. Notices are placed on all maps and in various locations around Uluru asking visitors to respect the wishes of the Aboriginal people.
I must say I did not find the need to climb Uluru and enjoyed this iconic feature of Australia from the ground.
