Mala Walk at the base of Uluru (Ayers Rock) is about two kilometres return from the Mala car park and into Kantju gorge. This is a beautifully peaceful spot which supplied water to Aboriginal people. You can see marks down the side of Uluru where the water runs after rain. It was surprising how cool these areas were close to the base of the rock – especially in one of the caves that you are allowed to enter along this walking track.
See rock art and read the informative signs detailing how areas were used and by whom (men or women).
Uluru (Ayers Rock) is a culturally important place for many Indigenous People in Australia you are asked to respect their sacred sites when exploring Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park.
