The Gunnedah Visitor Information Centre is just off the main road (Conadilly Street - Kamilaroi Highway) on Chandos Street and across the road from Wolsley Park. Wolsley Park has public toilets - poems are broadcast through the speakers of the toilets so don't be surprised when you hear voices as you walk towards these amenities.
The VIC has some dedicated RV and long vehicle parking out front which is convenient when towing a caravan. Molly was the young lady who helped us out with information on things to see around town - friendly and helpful service. Opening hours are Monday to Friday 9 am - 5 pm, Saturday and Sunday 10 am - 3 pm.
Gunnedah is a rich agricultural region (the Liverpool Plains) and is located on the Kamilaroi and Oxley Highways not far from Tamworth. A great place to visit with a number of pubs, clubs, restaurants and cafes in town - not to mention the Dorothea Mackellar museum and Agquip.
There is an art gallery alongside the VIC and during our visit they were displaying the latest entrants in the local art competition. All paintings, sculptures and pottery were for sale and there were some great works. We enjoyed looking at the displays but unfortunately we could not fit them in the van.
