Cohens Bridge Rest Area

If you drive along Chandos Street in Gunnedah, past the Visitor Information Centre you will travel across the Namoi River (over Cohens bridge) and come to a free camping area. I understand the Rotary Club have undertaken a project to fix the area and encourage more people to stop for a few days (short stays only).

Just over Cohen’s Bridge, turn left onto the spacious grassy surrounds alongside the Namoi River. The area allows access to the river for swimming, fishing and canoeing and the location is home to native wildlife and a variety of birds - keep an eye our for a Koala in the river gums. (The area is dry weather only)
 
There are two dump points in Gunnedah:

• Lions Club Rest Area on Mullaley Road (Oxley Highway)
• inside the main entrance to the Gunnedah Showground, immediately on the left
