Gingin is a small town in West Australia found on the Brand Highway (Highway 1) about 90 kilometres north of Perth. We drove through Gingin after visiting the Gravity Discovery Centre, west of town. This place has the 'leaning tower of Gingin" which is a 13 story structure built with a 15 degree lean to test gravity using water balloons. The Gravity Discovery Centre is a premier science education facility in Western Australia where students learn about Physics and Astronomy, Gravity and Cosmology. This is definitely worth a visit when in the area.
Gingin is a lovely town in the middle of a large farming area - olives, grapes, cattle oranges etc. Check out the water wheel in Granville Park - a beautiful parkland in the middle of town with lovely gardens and plenty of shade. Plenty places to park while towing the caravan - stop and enjoy a walk through Gingin. We called in to post a letter but unfortunately it was lunch time and the PO closes between 12:30 and 1:30 - you know you are in the country when a store closes for lunch.
West Coast Honey on Gingin Brook Road is the place to visit with free entry and honey tasting, live bee displays and, at certain times of the year, view the honey extraction process. Local produce can be purchased from the gift shop.
