Ocean Park Aquarium is located about eight kilometres south of Denham, Shark Bay in Western Australia. As we headed into the Aquarium for a guided tour we saw a shark swimming just off the coast in front of the car park - clear waters and amazing views
The tours run regularly throughout the day with each of the guides providing interesting information about the marine life of the area. Every hour a group of visitors is taken outside to the large shark tank to learn about the various types of sharks and watch a feeding demonstration. There are a several smaller tanks inside that hold a variety of other fish - clown fish, stone fish, star fish etc. The tours operate every day (except Christmas and Boxing Days) and the Aquarium is open from 9 am to 4 pm.
Any injured turtles that are found in the area are bought to Aquarium to recuperate. We not only saw and learnt a lot about the sea life kept at the Aquarium we also saw some interesting lizards hiding in the gardens.
The Aquarium has a licensed restaurant with a lovely shaded verandah overlooking the ocean towards Dirk Hartog Island. Ocean Park Aquarium also operate 4WD tours around the Shark Bay World Heritage Area and is a great place to visit.
