From our accommodation at the Bridgewater Public Caravan Park we took an early morning walk along the path following the river. Beautiful gum trees line the Loddon River and hundreds of Corellas perched in the trees overnight squawking before taking flight. They can be very noisy in large numbers,
We walked under the bridge and then down to the historic swimming hole created when a weir was build across the River to enable continuous water flow for the flour mill. This flour mill is now owned by Laucke but is no longer open to the public for tours.
A lovely park sits above the swimming area with public toilet, grassy picnic areas and barbeque facilities. A deck and bathing platform are located beside the swimming hole which would be great on a hot Victorian summer day.
