Whyalla Visitor Information Centre

I would highly recommend that you stop at the Whyalla Visitor Information Centre while travelling along this part of the Eyre Peninsula, and join a tour of the HMAS Whyalla. This ship has a very interesting history being the first ship built in Whyalla and once used as a mine sweeper. HMAS Whyalla has been restored - you will see inside the cabins, gully, engine room, bridge and gain an understanding of how difficult the conditions were for the crew. The crew's quarters were very crowded with beds being used night and day and then converted to a table at meal times.  

The Maritime Museum is located beside the Visitor Information Centre just a short walk through lovely gardens. These gardens are a very popular place for outdoor weddings - one was being set up the day we were visiting, which was lovely. The museum is a must as it has some great displays including a mini railway which takes up an entire room.
