When heading down the Yorke Peninsula in South Australia we called in for a few days at the pretty little town of Wallaroo – about 3000 people and a very popular holiday destination. North Beach Tourist Park is an award winning Top Holiday Park located on the beach about 3 kilometres north of the Wallaroo Post Office.
We arrived very late in the afternoon (after the office had closed) but that was no problem for the Michael and Emma Byrne who run this beautifully maintained park. After a very warm welcome they let us in to set up and allowed us to pay the next morning - quite safe as we did not have the code to the boom gates.
Wallaroo North Beach Tourist Park is very large with a range of accommodation overlooking a very safe swimming beach - the beach is very wide at low tide and the shallow water extends for about 50 metres. Some great features of the lovely park include:
We were able to ride our bikes from the North Beach Tourist Park into the town centre along a bike path running beside the main road. Lots to see along the foreshore with some lovely little cafes and a great baker. This happened to be Monday and a number of the takeaway outlets were closed but we managed to find Hooked on Fish and Chips in Hughes Street which is a couple of blocks back from the water. We received very friendly service and then enjoyed a lovely meal with home made potato scallops (they call fritters).
RvTrips highly recommend the North Beach Tourist Park in Wallaroo as a great place to stay with easy access when towing a caravan and large sites.
