This is a relatively easy walk from Wilpena Poud Resort along a well marked track. The walk follows a roadway used by the shuttle bus and emergency vehicles and then you can either follow the high track to the homestead or along the edge of the creek past sliding rock. We walked to the homestead following one path and came back the other. While waiting for photos I heard rustling in the grass and saw an echidna walking under nearby bushes - he/she was absolutely huge.
The Homestead is a beautiful old building and the grounds have shaded seating and toilet facilities. Signs around the homestead tell the sotory of the peioneering families who lived here and how they farmed the land. Nearby signs tell an Aboriginal dreamtime story - quite fascinating. Keep an eye out for the wonderful carving on the side of a large rock as you head up to Wangara Lookout - amazing.
You are able to cacth a suttle bus from the resort which will reduce the walk by 2 kilometres in each direction.
