Blacks Beach is a suburb of Mackay in northern Queensland and we called in for a few days on our trip during 2016. We stayed at the BIG4 Mackay Blacks Beach Holiday Park on Bourke Street and backing onto the beach. What a great park with a range of cabins, great pool area beautiful amenities and large camp kitchen - not to mention the huge drive-through sites.
Walking distance from this park is a really good Chinese restaurant Mackay’s Golden Sun at the Turtle Shores Shopping centre. Guest from the caravan park get a discount and the food was delicious.
During our stay we headed out of town for a tour of Fairleigh Mill - a working Sugar Mill. I highly recommend this tour to learn about the production process and see how much of the sugar cane is used and for what purpose - amazing.
