Regatta Point in the ACT can be accessed by driving along Commonwealth Avenue from the City and turning onto Albert Street just before Commonwealth Avenue Bridge crosses Lake Burley Griffin. The Deck at Regatta Point is a cafe with beautiful views across the Lake ,The National Gallery, Parliament House and the Great Dividing Range.
The National Exhibition Centre at Regatta Point explains the choice of Canberra as the national capital over 100 years ago - a great first stop when visiting the ACT. The Centre tells the story of the planning and development of Canberra and was originally built as an observation point to allow people to watch the construction of Lake Burley Griffin and Commonwealth Bridge. It proved to be so popular that the Exhibition Centre remains today.
There are plenty of parking spaces nearby including bus bays, and this is a very busy spot during Floriade. There are great walking tracks around Lake Burley Griffin. We have even enjoyed concerts performed on floating platforms anchored below Regatta Point and this is also a vantage point to view fireworks.
