Canberra is a great place to own an push bike. There are hundreds (maybe thousands) of kilometres of bike paths all around the ACT. You can spend hours exploring the area and the paths will take you past some of the Territory's tourist attractions - National Art Gallery, Commonwealth Park, Arboretum, Australian War Memorial, Old and New Parliament Houses, Bruce Stadium etc.
We have spent many weekends cycling around Canberra enjoying beautiful places to stop for morning tea and lunch. Riding around Lake Burley Griffin is a real delight, especially during autumn when the leaves are changing colours. The picture of a damaged cycle path was caused by heavy rain and soon repaired.
I highly recommended that you take your bike when holidaying in our Nation's capital.
