Derby Wharf is at the end of Jetty Road, Derby, Western Australia. The first wharf was originally built in 1894 and major exports have been loaded on to ships here over the years - wool, pearl shell, and live cattle. Nowadays barges exporting lead and zinc, and tourist boats are the main visitors to the jetty.
This is a very popular place to watch the beautiful, and colourful sunsets over King Sound. You can ride or walk along the path from town (over the mud flats) or drive along Jetty Road - this is a popular walking track for locals in the late afternoons. Derby Wharf is also a place to go fishing or catching mud crabs on the incoming tides. The tides at Derby are Australia's highest - up to 12 metres - it is a very long way to the water when fishing from the jetty at low tide.
