The Murray River at Robinvale is a popular location which can become very busy over weekends and during school holidays. The river can experience a lot of boating activity, with wakeboarders and fisherman enjoying the idyllic conditions.
SUPers wanting to explore the tranquility of the Murray and its foreshore, may find weekdays and early mornings to their liking. These times, more than often, bring calm glassy conditions to the river, perfect for getting close the amazing birdlife, marsupials and reptiles that inhabit the foreshore.
The Robinvale Riverside Caravan Park fronts the river, is a block from town, offers excellent campsites and a neat grassy foreshore, perfect for accessing the Murray with your SUP.
Robinvale is a small town in Victoria located on the banks of the Murray River and only about an hours drive from Mildura. We stayed at the Robinvale Riverfront Caravan Park and our campsite was right on the riverbank overlooking the mighty Murray - a perfect spot to go SUPing.
We inflated the Fanatic Falcon Air SUP and launched it from the steps leading to the water, allowing us to explore this section of the Murray River. There are dead trees on the foreshore which have become homes to a variety of parrots. The river bank consists mostly of reeds and grasses, where you will find a variety of waterfowl and ducks.
During our visit the wind was calm to light, on most days, making our time on the river enjoyable and very relaxing. There is something special about moving quietly through the trees and reeds, taking in your surroundings and watching the wildlife. Another outback experience which was absolutely perfect for a SUP!
It is so easy to use this inflatable SUP and we are looking forward to paddling in other sections of the river as we head east towards Albury-Wadonga.
