Lake Catani Campground within the Mount Buffalo National Park seemed to be a very popular camping site with plenty of tents, camper trailers, and even small caravans set up in the bush for a short stay. This campground is open from November to April and bookings are required.
During our visit there seemed to be a caretaker on-site for payments and any questions. This camp ground has an amenities block with hot showers and flushing toilets. Wooden plinths have been erected at various locations so you can pitch your tent above the ground.
Camp fires areas are at most sites but you must bring your own wood. Not sure if the caretaker was selling wood but as far as I am aware you cannot collect any timber form the National Park. The road around the campground is one way and some sites were quite secluded.
The Lakeside Walk around Lake Catani is about 3 kilometres and this track passes through several different plant communities.
There is also a day visitor area beside the lake with picnic tables and portable toilets. We saw several people fishing (some fly fishing) and there are a number of walking tracks within the park.
