The new Cohuna Weir is situated on Gunbower Creek near the town of Cohuna in Victoria - alongside the Murray Valley Highway as you drive through town. The original Cohuna Weir was constructed in 1908-1910 with eight bays built from local red gum timber. In 2006 this wooden structure was replaced with three gates made of stone, concrete and metal with upper and lower sections used to control the flow of water. This weir has been important to the community as a water supply for irrigation purposes as well as recreational activities on the Lake.
You are able to walk across the weir and see the water rushing under the gates. Information signs relay the history of Cohuna Weir - very interesting.
