The Ballarat Visitor Information Centre is housed in the Town Hall Building which fronts Sturt Street (the main road through town). Short term parking in Armstrong Street and Bath Lane which are both located behind the building.
A beautiful Japanese garden has been created near the entrance and the VIC is full of information screens, brochures, maps and souvenirs as well as local products. It is open daily from 9 am to 5 pm (except Christmas day).
We spoke to one of the staff who was a keen gold prospector and insists that there is still plenty to be found around the area - maybe try you luck while you explore Ballarat and surrounds. The VIC has internet access, a kids corner and recharge points plus a couple of long vehicle parks suitable for those towing caravans or camper trailers.
