It was a beautiful cycle from our caravan at the Port Vincent Foreshore Caravan Park to the other end of Marine Parade and the very picturesque Port Vincent Marina. This marina appears to be quite new with a number of lovely houses and townhouse being built along the water.
Port Vincent Marina on the Yorke Peninsula is just 30 nautical miles across the gulf from North Haven which is 26 kilometres north of Adelaide - a convenient cruising destination. There have been about 90 berths created in the marina which range in size. This looks like a safe, harbour to navigate with modern facility including an amenities building, fully equipped laundry, picnic and barbeque facilities.
This is a popular fishing spot but keep an eye out for nests among the rocks when looking for that perfect spot. We came across a couple of eggs laid in the middle of the path being protected by a small bird. The eggs looked like those of a plover and upon checking our bird book I think it was a Red Capped Dotterel (luckily someone had surrounded the eggs with rocks to try and protect them).
As with many boat ramps in South Australia we noticed that you need to pay a fee for parking your car and trailer in the car parking space near the ramp (after launching your boat). These are usually great facilities and I guess the fees help with the upkeep.
