Port Douglas Surf Life Saving Club was established in about 1980 and has qualified surf life savers who regularly patrol this popular beach.
Adjacent to the Surf Life Saving Club is the bar and bistro which provides great meals in a relaxed shaded setting. We were advised by locals that the lunch at the Surf Club Bar and Bistro was very good so we headed over for a meal after going to the Port Douglas Markets one Sunday morning.
The Port Douglas Surf Club Bar and Bistro overlooks Four Mile Beach and we sat on the covered verandah to enjoy lunch. You have to order from one counter for lunch and the bar for drinks. Great food with an interesting variety - we had Pulled pork in breadcrumb with bean salsa and green tea dipping sauce as well as battered coral trout served in tortillas with avocado dip and salsa with sweet potato chips. Both were delicious.
The service was quick and friendly - we would not hesitate to go back when next visiting Port Douglas in Tropical North Queensland.
