McKinlay is a very small town between Winton and Cloncurry on the Landsborough Highway in Queensland. We stopped here for a break from driving and have a cuppa. Parked beside the Walkabout Creek Hotel made famous in the Crocodile Dundee movie- so instead of a cuppa we went in for a beer.
The locals are really friendly and there is a large car park with plenty of room to pull over when towing the caravan. There are caravan and camping sites as well as cabin accommodation behind the Walkabout Creek Hotel, and this a popular place to spend the night when travelling in outback Queensland.
