The Visitor Information Centre at Kingaroy is located just off the main road through town and has a museum that tells you about the history of peanut farming in the area. How they are harvested and grown. Of course this area is well known as the home of Joh Bjelkie Petersen - a peanut farmer who became the longest serving premier of Queensland.
Staff at the information centre were very helpful, friendly with local knowledge - a one stop shop for travel information, maps, brochures, and itineraries. There are a range of locally made produce and crafts for sale at the centre - I spend ages looking around.
The Art Gallery (also located at the centre) showcases local artists as well as hosting travelling exhibitors - quite interesting.
Of course we purchased a range of peanuts before leaving Kingaroy.
